Germany have dropped below Korea in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings powered by Capgemini after suffering a 33-26 defeat at home to Belgium at the weekend.
The Black Eagles’ second loss of the Rugby Europe Trophy 2021/22 campaign cost them 1.13 rating points and their place in the world’s top 30 ranked nations.
Germany are now in 31st place, on 52.02 points, while Belgium remain in 27th place on 54.86 points.
The game in Heidelberg was a topsy-turvy affair, in the first half especially, with the lead changing hands three times.
But Belgium went on to deservedly claim maximum points by outscoring their hosts five tries to two.
A fourth penalty from full-back Edoardo Stella in stoppage time ensured Germany at least picked up a losing point for their efforts.
Belgium’s next game is away to Switzerland, on 12 March, while Germany have to wait a week longer before their campaign resumes at home to the Swiss.
Belgium are now second to Poland in the Rugby Europe 2021/22 table with Germany in third.
