Rugby World Cup Seven 2018’s Advisory Group is comprised of leading innovators in their respective fields, all of whom are united in their love for the Bay Area and the opportunity to host Rugby World Cup Sevens for the first time on US soil. Here is a brief summary about each member.
Will Chang, Chairman of USA Rugby, member of the Board since 2012. Will is a principal owner of the San Francisco Giants and also founder of Seven Figures Management and Qifa Media. He began his rugby career at the age of 14 in Somerset (England) and he played as a wing-forward at Harvard.
Larry Baer, President and CEO of the San Francisco Giants. Larry joined the organization in 1996 after he lead the efforts of building a new ownership group for the San Francisco Giants. He is a member of the Board of Directors of BAM Tech, MLB’s Long Term Strategic Planning, and KQED.
Keith Bruce, President of QuintEvents International and Formula 1 Experiences. Keith served as the CEO & President for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee. Previously President of SportsMark, where he worked on exclusive ticket sales for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Joe D’Alessandro, CEO of San Francisco Travel since 2006. Joe was the CEO and President of the Portland Oregon Visitors Association for 15 years and served in the California Travel and Tourism Commission.
Neil Duffy, Chief Executive Officer at Purpose + Sport, and Chief Catalyst & Executive Management at in/Pact. Neil is the founder of the sport marketing agency called Purpose + Sport. At in/Pact Duffy he focuses on providing marketing and sustainability services, tech platforms to major sports, entertainment brands, and sponsors at a global level.
Rodney A. Fong, Vice President of Planning Commission of the City and County of San Francisco. He is currently President of Fong Real Estate Co. and was a member of the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee. Rebekah Stevens, VP Global Brand Sponsorship at Nielsen. Primary duties include in leading the West Coast consulting team in the U.S. for Nielsen sports.
Pat Gallagher, Author and Management Consultant. For more than 23 years he was one of the top executives for the SF Giants, later became President of Giants Enterprises and was part of the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, Partnerships and Communications.
John D. Goldman, Founder of John and Marcia Goldman Foundation. John and his wife Marcia founded their foundation in 1997 with the mission to shrink the economic disparities among Bay Area families and across the nation.
Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate Vice President and Chief Evangelist at Microsoft Corporation. Steve has worked with Microsoft for over 23 years. He speaks at events around the world showcasing and announcing the latest software, services, and devices.
Patty Hubbard, Managing Director and Co-Founder at Brand Forward. Patty has over 25 years of experience in the fields of brand, sports, and entertainment marketing. Prior to Brand Forward she was one of MKTG’s founding partners and West Coast President for 11 years.
Michael Lynch, Head of Consulting at Nielsen. In his 17 year tenure with Visa, Michael worked in Partnership and Marketing. His name was listed in the “100 Most Powerful People in Sports” by the Sporting News Magazine.
Stephanie Martin, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Brand Forward and Author. Stephanie launched her sport marketing agency BFWD in early 2017. She is the Principal at Martin Communications, and previously VP of Marketing and Communications for Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, and Chief Communications Officer for the 34th America’s Cup.
Matt Prieshoff, Chief Operating Officer at Live Nation. Matt has worked for Live Nation for over 19 years and oversees all Live Nation’s venues in Northern California and the Pacific Western region.
Stephen Revetria, Senior VP at Giants Enterprises. He is responsible for the business development and use of AT&T Park, Pier 48, The Yard, and other organization's resources. Stephen has co produced major concerts at AT&T and major event productions. He now serves as a trustee for USF, & Board of Directors for the US Travel Association.
Jim Wunderman, CEO and President of the Bay Area Counsel, where he has served in this position for more than 13 years. Previously he worked as VP at Providian Financial Corporation and also as Chief of Staff for SF Mayor Frank.
Melinda Yee Franklin, Managing Director, Corporate and Government Affairs at United Airlines. Previously working as Managing Director for Siena Group. Melinda is currently in transition to start working with SF Travel. She was appointed by President Clinton to the U.S. Department of Commerce and served two years.
