Brazil's women and Argentina's men both lived up to their pre-tournament status as favourites and number one seeds by going unbeaten to win their respective titles at the South American Sevens Championships.
In capturing the women's title at San Jose Dos Campos, Brazil's Rugby World Cup Sevens-bound ladies made it five years unbeaten on South American soil.
The tournament was their final opportunity to test themselves in a competition environment before the World Cup in a little over a month's time.
On day one they eased to pool victories without conceding a point against Colombia (17-0), Peru (43-0) and Venezuela (21-0).
On day two their defences were finally breached but they still proved far too strong, first beating Uruguay 20-5 to reach a final against Argentina, which they won convincingly 45-5.
In doing so, they repeated the result which earned them their place at the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens women's competition in Dubai on 5-7 March this year.
A second-string Puma men's outfit was easily good enough to breeze past Paraguay (45-5), Colombia (45-0) and Chile (27-0) on day one.
They then overcame host nation Brazil 17-5 in the semi final before crushing Chile 38-0 in the final to retain their title.
