South Africa step up preparations for Dubai
South Africa and Uganda will both be at RWC Sevens 2009

South Africa Women's Sevens coach Denver Wannies will be reunited with 10 of the players who secured qualification for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 for a training camp in Port Elizabeth this weekend.

Yolanda Meiring, Natasha Hofmeester and Lorinda Brown all scored tries as South Africa beat Uganda 24-0 to retain their Confederation of African Rugby Women's Sevens title in September, with both sides qualifying for RWC Sevens 2009.

Saloma Booysen captained South Africa in that qualifying tournament, while Mandisa Williams, Nomathamsanga Faleni, Lamla Momoti, Phumeza Gadu, Aimee Barret and Nadine Barnard were also members of that squad.

These 10 players, together with Ziyanda Tywaleni and Zandile Nokojo, will attend the training camp at the Nelson Mandela University as coach Denver Wannies admits there is plenty of work to leading up the RWC Sevens in Dubai in March.

"Everyone is so looking forward to the World Cup, but we all know that a lot of hard work needs to be done in order for the team to be ready and able to launch a serious challenge in Dubai," said Wannies.

South Africa Women's training squad:
Yolanda Meiring (Blue Bulls), Natasha Hofmeester (Boland), Mandisa Williams (Border), Ziyanda Tywaleni (Border), Nomathamsanqa Faleni (Eastern Province), Lamla Momoti (Eastern Province), Saloma Booysen (Eastern Province), Lorinda Brown (Eastern Province), Phumeza Gadu (Eastern Province), Zandile Nojoko (Eastern Province), Aimee Barret (KwaZulu-Natal), Nadine Barnard (Western Province).
