Beth Coalter, RWC Sevens Tournament Director
On the success of the tournament:
"With
40 teams it's the biggest tournament the IRB has ever organised and it
went without a hitch really. Teams playing on time, the games were
really close, pool games were always interesting. I couldn't believe
the upsets. You just couldn't have written a better script."
One what the tournament will do for the Women's Game and the Olympic re-inclusion campaign:
"Most of the women's teams, in fact nearly all of them, were saying how much it has lifted their game and it is something they have been working towards for over a year really once the qualifiers started. Seeing the different strengths, the different styles of the women's game is, obviously all very tired by the end of the day.
"They are going to go away and concentrate on their fitness, try and get their levels of fitness going up in the future and if we get into the Olympics well who knows what it will do, even for the men's game, I think we will just see massive changes in all of them."
