PLATE FINAL

CANADA 0-12 ENGLAND

Coach Simon Amor (ENG)

On his team's victory in the Plate final:

“I am very pleased with the girls' performance and the way they picked themselves up after the disappointment of the Australia defeat in the quarter final. It took a huge amount of mental strength and I am delighted with the way they have acquitted themselves today.”

On the possible inclusion of Sevens at the Olympics:

“This Sevens set-up is made for the Olympic Games and I certainly think that the rate of improvement in the women’s game in particular has been sensational and this sport would add so much to the Olympic programme.”

On what is next on the agenda for his players:

“Some of the girls here have got the 15-a-side World Cup next year so they will go home and have a bit of a break and then get back to training. A couple of them have got Six Nations next week so they will be looking forward to that but I am very happy with all of the girls today.”

Captain Maria Gallo (CAN)

On how the team is feeling after the defeat by England:

"The girls are a little bit hurt but we are happy with our performance and we had a good game. England are tough opponents, so kudos to them but I am proud of us and you will see a lot more of Canadian rugby coming your way."

On the England team:

"They are just strong runners, defensively they hold their own and they contest at rucks and they are just very agressive, so it went well for them."

On the party atmosphere at 'The Sevens':

"It's amazing. It is a big party out here and soon I will be taking part in it."

On the Olympic aspiratons for Sevens:

"All the men's games and the women's games have been exciting. A lot of surprises and a lot of small nations are actually competing in the finals. I am personally cheering for Argentina."

PLATE SEMI FINAL

FRANCE 12-19 CANADA

Coach Frederic Pomarel (FRA)

On what his team will take away from the tournament:

"I am not disappointed in my players, I am very proud of them in this game and this tournament. They have learned a lot from this tournament because they are not used to playing in this sort of big event.

"I am really proud of the technique that my players worked on, but we will try to get more physical in our preparations to compete against other nations. We need more and we are going to try and make less mistakes, especially at the end of matches, especially with our hands."
