SAMOA 19-0 AUSTRALIA
Captain Ofisa Treviranus (SAM)
On making it through to the Cup quarter finals:
"We are very happy to make it through to the Cup quarter final because it was our aim all the way through. We played very well against Ireland and Portugal and it was always our plan to have to beat Australia in the final pool game to make it through.
"We are proud to be in the Cup quarter final but we want to go further and we think we can. Whoever we end up playing we look forward to beating them."
On the return of Uale Mai:
"He is an old man and it is great to have him here. He is a cheerful man and an experienced player and he is a star. The main player at the moment though is Lolo Lui. He has performed great all the way through and he is our best playmaker."
PORTUGAL 17-5 IRELAND
Pedro Cabral (POR)
On the victory:
"Yes, we were looking for this win. We had two hard games in the first two games but now we have achieved the win and we hope to continue like this."
On Saturday's action:
"Now we know if we lose we go out of the tournament so we will be giving it everything."
Coach Jon Skurr (IRE)
On the loss to Portugal:
"I think we just tired out a bit. Our Sevens experience is obviously not great, we haven't got a lot of it. We just got caught up a few times, we didn't utilise it and we probably wasted a bit too much ball than we would like to. But all credit to the guys. These guys have never played Sevens before and we have given a couple of teams on the circuit great games and we proved these boys can play at this level."
On what the win against Australia did to help prepare for this match:
"It is fantastic for the guys. The guys were absolutely devastated by the performance against Samoa. They let themselves down and they know that. We picked it up against Australia and played some really good Sevens. They didn't have the ball for the first four or five minutes.
"It is a learning curve for the guys and they are learning quickly, and it is a harsh process."
AUSTRALIA 21-24 IRELAND
Gary Brown (IRE)
On scoring the match-winning try:
"I feel great. We started off the tournamnet with a big beating from Samoa so we really needed to start well against Australia today. It was a great win. I only had a bit to do coming on at the end with a few minutes to go but you still get tired in those two minutes."
On how they achieved their victory:
"You never know with Sevens. You have just got to keep your composure, especially when you are in the lead. You have just got to get control of the ball and then keep it. It can be like a game of tennis, with the ball going back and forth, but we are just delighted that we kept our composure and sealed the win."
SAMOA 20-7 PORTUGAL
Ofisa Treviranus (SAM)
On the performance and 100 per cent record so far:
"Very happy with that performance, with two wins. We look forward to the next team."
On conceding the last-minute try:
"Portugal put in a good performance and a good effort. It was a hard game against Portugal but we are very happy to beat them in a World Cup."
On playing Australia next:
"We look forward to playing Australia because we play them a lot of times. It will be a very hard game and they are a really strong team."
On the support from Samoan fans:
"We have a lot of support from Samoan people here, staying or working in Dubai and we are very happy they come to support Samoa and cheer us on."
