Welcome to the official Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 website. The site will develop over the next two years to provide all rugby fans and media organisations with information about the showcase rugby sevens event.

Following an inspirational and well-received Olympic Games debut for rugby sevens at Rio 2016, the sport heads into the next Rugby World Cup Sevens ready to deliver more exciting and thrilling memories. As the host city, San Francisco is looking forward to welcoming teams in 2018 for what will undoubtedly be a unique and thrilling tournament.

TOURNAMENT BACKGROUND

The hosting rights to Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 were awarded to USA Rugby in May 2015.

THE GLOBAL GOVERNING BODY

World Rugby is the global governing body for the sport of rugby worldwide and owner of Rugby World Cup. With 121 national unions affiliated through six regional associations, World Rugby is responsible for the development and growth of rugby worldwide, the guardians of its regulations and laws and major international events, including Rugby World Cup tournaments, the men’s and women’s sevens series, Pacific Nations Cup, Nations Cup, U20 Championship and several others. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, World Rugby is investing a record £340 million in the development of the game between 2009-16 in order that more men, women, and children can participate. 

THE HOST UNION

USA Rugby is the host union for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018, and will manage and deliver the tournament, hosted in San Francisco at AT&T Park, home to the Major League Baseball team San Francisco Giants.

ACCREDITATION

Media Accreditation for the event will open in 2017.
